As I traveled across the Pacific to the tiny island of Okinawa, Japan a radio deejay announced the Hypno-chick was coming going to be on isalnd. I arrive and begin to meet the people I will be working with, and those that help the show to be a successful one. Every one keeps calling me the Hypno-Chick! I'd laugh and agree yet since the beginning of my career as a Hypnotist I had never been called that before. It was kind of endearing.
At each performance it was a full capacity crowd. The bars were packed with young soldiers that looked like they had barely graduated high school. There they are, serving their country with a smile on their face and a thirst for excitement. That's why I'm there, to give them a little excitement. To entertain them with a comedy they don't see too often; Hypnosis.
The shows were really wild and although I always say I do a clean show, despite my tasteful sketches, these boys would often take the suggestions to a whole new level. What are you going to do? It's a room full of raging testosterone and me. I can only describe these shows as a knock down, drag out good time. It's a good thing I'm now in my thirties and know better, otherwise the attention could go to a girls head.
One night after another over a ten day period the HypnoChick shows were packed and really fun. Every place I performed people called out the name, HypnoChick. Between their HooRah's, HypnoChick stuck with them and it made me begin to think. Did the Marine Corps boys just create a brand for me?
When I returned home from entertaining the troops in Asia I sent the Marine Corps deejay an email, and we agreed upon me taking over the name that he had casually created for me. For over five years now I have used the HypnoChick label and everyone seems to remember it. By the way, the name is De'Anna Nunez, not that you'll remember.
